re’new comprises two companies; Renew Leeds Ltd, a charity, and Renewal Leeds Ltd, a commercial subsidiary; their Boards are responsible for setting re’new’s strategic direction and overseeing performance. Members give their services voluntarily and receive no remuneration.

Renew Leeds Ltd Board of Trustees

The Board comprises members with backgrounds in education, health, social care, social enterprise and housing, with a representative from Leeds City Council.

The Board meets six times a year and holds a joint meeting with the Renewal Leeds Ltd Board to agree the annual budget: the two Boards also appoint a joint Finance Committee.

We are currently recruiting for new Board members.

re’new comprises two companies ; Renew Leeds Ltd, a company limited by guarantee and   registered charity and a subsidiary company Renewal Leeds Ltd, a commercial trading arm.  re’new actively works to improve the Leeds City Region through influencing and supporting housing and development and providing learning, employment, advice and support services focused on the most disadvantaged communities and individuals.

Established in 1989, we have a proud track record; a close relationship with Leeds City Council and Housing Associations and a wide range of strategic and operational partnerships. We recognise, however, that we can’t survive on past reputation and, following a period of review and retrenchment, we are looking to grow and strengthen the organisation based on our strategic aim “to ensure that everyone has the same chances in life wherever they live”.

Currently the majority of re’new’s activities are within Renew Leeds Ltd but we wish to expand our commercial activities and so envisage a greater role for Renewal Leeds Ltd in the future. 

To help us in this new phase we are seeking to recruit a number of new Board Members with senior experience, strategic awareness and a desire to make a contribution to wider society. Your experience and professional background is less important than the personal qualities and values you would bring to the role – commitment; enthusiasm; drive and a desire to make a difference. The ability and willingness to act as an ambassador and to promote re’new is very important. We would, however, particularly value interest from those with experience and skills in the following areas :

·         Marketing & Communications

·         Finance

·         Property Development

·         Funding Development

·         Social Enterprise

Board Members of Renew Leeds Ltd act as Trustees for the charity; Board Members of Renewal Leeds Ltd act as non-executive Directors.  To promote good governance the Boards are not identical but may share some Members.  Each Board meets up to six times a year with meetings lasting approximately two hours. 

Other time commitments may relate to periodical away-days or in relation to ambassadorial work on behalf of re’new.   Board Members are not paid but related expenses may be claimed.
